What is Alpha?
The Alpha course is a ten week opportunity to explore the Christian faith in a relaxed environment with other individuals who are also exploring Christianity. Each week a different topic is presented in an informal and friendly atmosphere where you may ask questions or just sit and listen. Some topics include: “Who is Jesus?”, “Why Did Jesus Die?”, “How Can I be Sure of My Faith?”, and other questions.
Who Attends Alpha?
Alpha is for anyone. People attend from all backgrounds, religions, and viewpoints and come to explore questions about the existence of God, the purpose of life, the afterlife, the claims of Jesus and more. Some come because they are curious, some because they want to see what they believe, some come because they want to take the next step in their faith. Just about everyone finds new friends, some good food and a better sense of what Jesus might mean for our lives.
What happens during the Alpha course?
Each Alpha course meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. with a family-style dinner & dessert. After dessert there is a presentation on a topic about the Christian faith. After the presentation individuals are given an opportunity to discuss informally in small groups what they thought about the presentation. Some people ask questions, some people don’t, the choice is yours. No one will call on you to answer questions, but if you have questions about the topic here is the time and place to ask them.
